Lesbian Herstory Archive
The Lesbian Herstory Archives is archival project commissioned in 1972 by the Gay Academic Union to provide greater historical representation for lesbians. From its inception, The Lesbian Herstory Archives has had a radically different vision than most conventional archives by maintaining inclusive archival practices that are “a radical departure from conventional archival practices.” The Lesbian Herstory Archives’ website has two digital collections; an audio/video collection and a photograph collection. Outside of its digital presence, The Lesbian Herstory Archives, has a physical location (84 14th St. in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY) and features three traveling exhibits (That are unavailable for the time being). Featuring everything from books to oral histories the Lesbian Herstory Archives “will collect and preserve any materials that are relevant to the lives and experiences of Lesbians.”
