The Abortion Diary is a transnational project that hosts more than 150 histories of women's abortion experiences. The project highlights the personal over the political. Accordingly, the project lists a handful of abortion resources, but primarily consists of the oral histories and a "story sharer" photographic gallery. Dr. Melissa Madera spearheaded the project after realizing the benefits of sharing her own multifaceted abortion story (see Diary Entry #8). She allows each woman the opportunity to tell her own story uninterrupted. The varied individual accounts help destigmatize abortion and allow the storytellers to process their experience and control their narrative.
